Point Lumber was originally known as Teradale Timber when it was established by David and Glenis Sloper on their Ruapuna farm in the 1980’s. The couple cut down their own trees and produced fence posts, sawn timber and firewood. When the farm was sold, their son Sean took over the business and relocated it to Pleasant Point.
The business, thanks to it’s new location, then became Point Lumber Ltd. As the company expanded, they retained the storage yard and treatment plant at Pleasant Point and opened the sales office and post production yard at Washdyke, Timaru.
Point Lumber manufactures and supplies fence posts, timber and associated products to the general public, fencing contractors, farmers and agricultural supply wholesalers.
We are involved at all stages of the manufacturing process, from the very first step of felling the trees through to them being sold from the yard.
Once at the yard, post material logs are processed to specific post sizes, before being steam-dried then tantalised.
All parts of the tree are used in the most sustainable way to minise waste, with any offcuts from post or timber production being used for either firewood, wood chip or sawdust.
